Email marketing has long been defined as one of the most effective digital marketing strategies. There are several reasons for this. 

First, your email subscriber list is made up of consumers who have shown a previous interest in your brand. You may have been offering free online content, discounts, exclusive access to webinars, videos, etc. Regardless, the people who subscribed to your list did so because they liked what they saw.

One of the biggest struggles of email marketing is getting your subscribers to actually open your emails. Having hundreds of subscribers is great, but if only 5% of them are opening your emails, you're doing something wrong. 

Most likely, your subject lines and preheaders aren't captivating enough. These are the only two lines email recipients can see at a glance in their email home page. Make them count.

3. Provide Value

When you send content to your email list, you must think about your message from their point of view. Fundamentally, you need to provide your readers with valuable content. Otherwise, what reason do they have to open your emails?

What your viewers find valuable depends on your business, your niche, and your target audience. This can be anything from product discounts to tutorials, business advice, and access to webinars. 

4. Use the Double-Open Strategy

Just because you're not being spammy doesn't mean you can be a trickster. Your email platform should provide vital feedback, such as open rates, link clicks, and more. Use this information to re-target people who don't open your emails. 

However, before resending the same email, wait a few days, and change the subject line and preheader. This is also a great way of determining more effective and captivating messages.

5. Always Be Closing (and Using CTAs)

Finally, in any sales industry, you're taught the ABCs of sales - Always Be Closing. Your emails should be no different. While it's important not to harass your email subscribers to "buy now!" you must find a subtle way to lead them to your sales funnel.

Using links to product or services pages is a good example. You can also direct them to specific blog articles or about pages. Include clickable CTAs (calls to action) to make it easy for them.
