The new year is just around the corner. The whole world is hoping that 2021 is filled with more positive vibes and changes.

In 2020, we suffered a worldwide pandemic that seemingly put the world on hold. But not for the web! 94% of internet users base their opinion on a website on the design alone.

If you lose leads in 2021, you don't want it to be because of a poorly designed website.

So if you're planning your takeover for the new year, and you're looking for some inspiration from trends in web design, you're in the right place. Keep reading to see the incoming web design trends for 2021.

1. Going Dark Trend

This year we saw the launch of a new Facebook interface and we could choose between the traditional white interface, or go with a new modern, dark mode interface

2021 is going to see more websites entering the dark side.

Dark backgrounds can make certain design elements really pop on the page, and simultaneously give a website a sleek, modern look and feel.

But the trend is not to simply create a website in dark design but to offer the website visitor the option to choose between light or dark mode, that's where the secret in this web design trend lies!

2. Minimalistic and Modern Design

Minimalism will be back in a big way for trends in web design in 2021.

Think of a website that is so totally clean, on a crisp white background, and all you see if one sentence alongside one image that just jumps right off the page.

The idea here is that the website has little to no flashy features of added widgets. It relies simply on its branding and marketing message to make a powerful impact on the website visitor.

3. The Storytelling Approach

Websites and videos will focus on a storytelling approach as we move into 2021.

What does this mean?

Your brand will use a storytelling narrative to display products and services through the design of your website. The flow of your website would follow the development of your product or the stages of your services.

A website user will be able to experience the story of your brand, as opposed to a static page that simply showcases what is on offer.

4. Unique Scrolling Experiences

It sounds like scrolling is a 'been there, done that' design trend, but in 2021, there's more to scrolling than just horizontal movement or vertical movement.

No more will we be seeing just left or right movement, or up and down movement of image bars on websites.

In 2021, we're going to see more websites adding secondary movement to their scrolling bars in the form of short video clips that add more movement to the horizontal or vertical movement.

Trends In Web Design: Moving Into 2021

The thing about trends in web design is that they're always going to be changing. What is trendy at the start of the year, maybe gone by the time summer arrives.

The best thing to do is to stay up to date with what's happening both within, and outside of your industry.
