Did you know that Facebook turned 16 in 2020? That means that if the social media platform was a person it would be a high schooler that could legally drive. Time flies while you're scrolling through your news feed for 16 years!

In 16 years a lot of changes have been made to Facebook. Updates happen constantly and we know it can be difficult to stay on top of these changes! Keep reading to learn the biggest 2020 Facebook updates so far and what they mean for you and your business.

One of the huge 2020 Facebook updates is called "The New Facebook". This is the latest of Facebook's major redesigns. The update is mostly related to the interface and how users see and interact with the platform.

Along with a general focus on groups and events, The New Facebook features the newly popular, dark mode. Once you have the update you can select the dark mode option for desktop. This will be good for users who dislike the new mostly white design of The New Facebook. 

The overall new look of Facebook is clean and modern. Your interface will automatically update on both mobile and desktop with any action required by users. Other improvements in this update include Facebook Live additions and chats while gaming. 

Limiting Facebook Page Ads

In 2020 Facebook is going to continue to crack down on advertising. Part of this plan to tighten security is to cap how many ads Facebook pages can run at one time. The platform's developers say that this change will not affect many users and it will help improve advertising. 

Facebook claims that a high volume of ads actually hinders a marketer's performance on Facebook. This is because the ads often do not leave the learning stage of the advertising process. This limits the success that the advertising algorithm can have on ads. 

Facebook Algorithm Changes in 2020

In 2020 the updates include those to audience ranking signals. The three factors that are impacted by this update are:
