Many businesses that use Facebook Pages have probably noted a significant decrease in organic reach over the last year. This has led many to question whether or not remaining on Facebook is worth it. At his town hall Q&A on May 14, Mark Zuckerberg gave his reasons why staying on Facebook is good for businesses despite this drop.

After regurgitating the Facebook's mantra about continuing to tweak the News Feed algorithm to focus on the indivual's interests and their lack of interest in commercial mesages, Zuckerberg stated there is actually no better way to reach customers than through Facebook. "Regardless of the changes that we've made, Facebook actually is still the best way to distribute stuff to all of the people that you are trying to reach and all your customers."

He pointed out that most business's customers are already on Facebook. It was also noted that most business owners actually make the majority of their connections through Facebook as opposed to other social media sites.

In addition to where most customer's and potential connections are located, Zuckerberg went on to say that business owners, especially small business owners, should also start thinking of their Facebook pages as an additional landing pages. Primarily because as people continue to do their searches through mobile phones, they do so through apps and many business websites are not mobile friendly. This leads people to do their research about a specific business through the company's Facebook page: hours, reviews, address, phone number, and other information that might get them to become a new customer.

"So that's how I would think about Facebook Pages, running a business. One is that distribution is still really good even as we're going to continue tweaking it to give everyone the best News Feed experience that we can. And two focus more on the part where people are directly navigating to your Page, to create the best land experience that you can for mobile."
